We know the restaurant environment is stressful, so we've tried to make order management very simple in Mondo Menu, yet flexible enough to work in any kitchen. All orders are managed from the "Orders" section in your left hand menu bar.

In your Order section you will see three tabs - Live Orders, Pre-Orders, Deliveries and Order History. Each order goes through a simple status that you control from your tablet. Before moving into how each tab works, it's worthwhile understanding what each order status is.

How orders are displayed - Live Orders

As orders come in, they will be displayed in your Live Orders tab. Live orders work on a first in, first out basis. This means your oldest orders will always be at the top and your orders will always be displayed in order of the time they came in. Every order will have the time it came in the top right corner, as well as a timer that tells you how long the order has been in the queue.

Each order will display all individual items ordered, any modifications made to an order and any notes a customer may have added on placing their order. Notes are in red.

The customer information includes the customer name, email and phone number.

Order status

Order status refers to the different statuses an order can go through. All orders are colour coded and will go through a status of:

New orders - blue - when a brand new order comes in that has not yet been touched

Preparing - orange - someone has acknowledged the order and started to prepare it

Ready - green - the order has been prepared and is at the pass

Order served - dark blue - the order has been delivered to the pick up counter or the table (if table service)

Changing the status of an order

You can change the status of an order in two ways: either by tapping the current status of the order, or by tapping the three dots in the bottom right of an order and selecting the updated status. As you change the status, the colour of the order will change to its new status. Items are also shown as ticked off, as they are ready.

If you have enabled SMS in your venue settings, an SMS will be sent when a status is changed to order ready.

New order counter

The new order counter tells you every time you receive a new order. This will appear as a number next to your "Orders" in your left hand menu bar.

Filtering orders

In your top right corner you'll see this symbol:

Clicking on this symbol will allow you to customise what you see in the Orders screen and filter for certain categories.

For example:

If you're in the kitchen

• You may not want to see the drinks that are managed in a different part of your venue.

• You may not want to see orders that have been served.

• You may want to filter for takeaway orders only.

If you're at the bar

. You may not want to see the food being prepared in the kitchen.

• You may not want to see orders that are served.

• You may want to see the kitchen short name (this can apply to beverages as well).

If you're on the floor

• The kitchen short name probably doesn't mean much to you - you'll probably have this disabled

• You mostly want to know what's at the pass, 'order ready"

If you're the manager

• You probably want to see everything - so you can make sure your venue is running as smoothly as possible.

Courses

Need your orders to be shown in "Courses"?

If you have categories that are "coursed", you will also see each item in course order. Any items ordered that don't belong to a course will be placed at the end of the order.

For example - if you have a simple entrees, mains and desserts menu, you may decide to course these as follows:

Entrees - Course 1

Mains - Course 2

Desserts - Course 3

Drinks - No course

Items in each order would be categorised and displayed in the order ticket as:

Course 1 - Eg. Bruschetta

Course 2 - Eg. Spaghetti bolognese

Course 3 - Eg. Tiramisu

No course - Glass of Red Wine

Sound Notifications

Under this symbol, you will have the option to turn on sound notifications for the order screen. Sound notifications serve as little reminders for your staff that there are orders to attend to. If this is enabled, every new Live order coming in will trigger a short sound. If any action is taken to acknowledge the order, such as a status change, the sound will no longer ring. If no action is taken and there is at least one order with a new status, a different sound will be triggered every 120 seconds until an action is taken.

How orders are displayed - Pre-Orders

If your venue allows pick-up or delivery, any orders that are placed for pickup or delivery at a later specified time will appear here. These orders will be moved to the live order screen closer to the scheduled time. For pickup orders, this will be the scheduled time less your pre-determined wait time and for delivery orders, this will be the scheduled time less the wait time and the calculated delivery time. Read our article on Wait times for more information.

When orders move into your live order screen they will be printed from your docket printer (if you have one connected).

How orders are displayed - Order History

The order history is where we show orders that are done and paid. In other words, these are your orders that are no longer live. You won't often need to go to the order history, unless you need to refund or review an old order.
