MondoMenu allows you to offer discounts to customers by creating discount codes. Customers enter the discount code on the cart page before placing their order.

There are a range of discount types you can create such as a percentage off discount, dollar amount discount, price change or a buy X, get Y offer. You can also apply a range of discount rules to control how and when a discount code can be used.

To create a discount code, go to the Discounts page under the Marketing dropdown and click the Create discount

button.

Discount codes

The first thing you need to do is select if you would like to provide a generic or unique discount code to customers.

Note! Discount codes are NOT case-sensitive.

Generic code

Every customer will use the same code to redeem the discount. Unless you plan to link the discount to a Post-purchase campaign, this is the option you should select. See our article on Post-purchase campaigns for more information.

Share generic discount codes with customers however you like. You can place them on signage around your venue, post them on social media, or send them out to people on your email marketing list. Learn how to set up an email marketing list with MondoMenu.

You can allow customers to use generic codes as many times as they like, or set usage limitations. If you create a staff discount that has no usage limitations, it's a good idea to change the code frequently to prevent it from being shared to people it's not intended for. You can change the code at anytime.

Unique code

Unique discount codes can ONLY be used when they are linked to a post-purchase campaign within MondoMenu. For a unique code to be generated, a customer needs to opt-into a campaign. You will also need to enable SMS notifications for any campaign your discount is linked to for customers to receive their code. Campaigns are designed to drive customer loyalty as customers will only receive a discount code when opting into a campaign after placing an order.

You will need to create a discount code prefix (this is the first part of the code that will be the same for all customers). The second half of the code will be unique for each customer and is generated automatically. Since it's a unique code, it will only work for one person, for one order. Unique codes give you greater control over who uses them as they can't be shared with others.

Note! We highly recommend setting an expiry date for unique codes, otherwise unique codes will not expire even if they are deleted from the portal.
